At J.S.K Gems & Jewellery, our story begins not in a showroom — but in the rich, ancient soil of Sri Lanka, where generations of our family have worked closely with the land to uncover its hidden treasures.

From the hands of our ancestors who mined the first sapphire, to the skilled artisans of today who shape raw stones into works of art — this business has always been more than commerce. It’s our identity. Our pride. Our legacy.

Over the years, what started as a small, family-run operation has grown into a trusted name in the gem and jewellery world — both locally and internationally. But no matter how far we go, we never forget where we came from.

Our Heritage

Our story begins with the birth of our father, Mr Weddikara Gunadasa, on 5th March 1952, in the coastal town of Beruwala, Sri Lanka.

He went on to become a Head Chef at some of Beruwala’s most respected hotels, including the Riverina Hotel and Palm Garden Hotel. Known for his dedication, precision, and discipline, he carried these values not only in his culinary career but in every pursuit he undertook.

Alongside his professional life, he developed a deep interest in Sri Lanka’s natural gemstones. What started as a part-time endeavour and personal passion gradually grew into a modest gem business, guided by integrity, patience, and a commitment to quality.

This passion was lovingly passed down through generations — first to Sujeewa De Silva, and later to Sureen Wedikkara. Each generation preserved the founding values while nurturing the business with care, trust, and respect for the craft.

Today, JSK Gems and Jewellery proudly carries forward this legacy — honouring its roots, celebrating Sri Lanka’s rich gemstone heritage, and creating timeless pieces built on decades of trust.
